A stunning idea for a Christmas tree alternative: Spray pain tall branches white, insert into a urn or large flower pot (In this case also white) filled with sand. Cover the sand with florist’s moss (available in craft stores) and then hang an abundance of beautiful glass Christmas ornaments from the branches.
In the photo featured here, a monochromatic look was created for this display (to complement the color scheme in the rest of the room), by matching the white branches to the white pot, and staying away from colors for the ornaments in favor of silver and antique gold.
A Christmas tree alternative like this is a fabulous option if you are opting for Christmas trees in multiple rooms of your home and you want to try something a little different from the ordinary in one of the rooms. But, of course, there’s nothing to say that you can’t go this route if its the only Christmas tree in the house – why not dare to be a different this year and show your guests that you’re a style leader.

]]>“Vintage-Glam” idea for Christmas Table Decorations from BHG. “The key to any glitzy Christmas table is pops of silver and pink. A small silver tree atop a glass compote makes room for wrapped favors below. Vintage ice cream dishes make wonderful vases filled with pink ranunculus. For festive flair, wrap napkins with silver and pink ribbon and tuck them between mismatched dinner plates. Dainty crowns sitting on the plates fly flags touting seating arrangements.”

]]>Decorated Christmas Trees 2012
We’ve made our top picks of Decorated Christmas Trees for 2012 from Southern Living Magazine.
Above, a table top Christmas tree decorated in lime green and brushed gold – a very calming color combination.
Southern Living Magazine says, “The trick to keeping this graphic look punchy, not ho-hum, is choosing the right shade of green. This crisp apple hue pops perfectly—anything darker or lighter would fade into the tree. To keep the holiday look fresh and bright, all-white ornaments were chosen for their modern feel and bold contrast. A playful paper lantern tops the tree, with trailing garland and ribbons.
Southern Living Magazine describes the theme of this tree, above, as “Silver and Gold”, but it is the gold that predominently comes across. “Basically neutral but with a little bling. Glittered ornaments and mercury glass balls lend a glimmering, glamorous feeling… Place packages around the outside of the tree to make it look larger”. ~ Southern Living Magazine
Below, set in a beatiful white urn, a white Christmas tree is decorated in tones of turquoise blue and sea foam green. This one gets our vote as the best of the Decorated Christmas Trees SouthernLiving has to offer for 2012. What’s your favorite? Let us know with a comment.

This white Christmas tree looks terrific with an abundance of pink and red decorations, and white twinkle lights. Its a romantic if slightly whimsical look, and an interesting choice with the existing highly eclectic room decor. I’d personally have gone with something with a lot of gold in this room for Christmas tree decorations, but when your decorating style is eclectic, the good news is that anything goes.

This is a really sweet Christmas tree decorating idea for someone expecting a baby or celerating baby’s first Christmas. A white Christmas tree is decorated in pink and blue pastels, and decorated with baby theme decorations, including small stuffed snowman toys in pink and blue, tiny teddy bears and stuffed bunnies. Also among the decorations are pink and /or blue baby booties, pink and blue ribbons and Christmas ball ornaments from the same pink and blue pastel color scheme. Really, really pretty.
